Baked Beans with Bacon and Sugar is a classic picnic side dish that is sure to please. This dish is a great way to add a bit of sweetness to your picnic spread.
Place your chopping board and cut the onion into small cubes.
½ onion
Cook the bacon half way through and keep the bacon fat in the skillet. Take the bacon out of the skillet, leave it to cool and cut it into smaller pieces. Leave it aside for later.
5 slices bacon
In the same skillet where you have cooked the bacon add the bell pepper and the onion. Cook on medium high for about five minute and stir from time to time.
¼ to ½ green bell pepper, ½ onion
Add ketchup, molasses, brown sugar, cider vinegar and mustard. Cook for a couple more minutes and mix to combine.
2 tbsp ketchup, ⅓ cup brown sugar, 2 tbsp cider vinegar, 1 tbsp mustard, 2 tbsp molasses
Transfer it to a baking dish and add the pork and beans. Mix everything until well combined.

Lay the cut bacon on top.

Cook in a preheated oven to 325°F (160°C) for 2 hours.
